Len Nixey, 86 years old, has kept cattle on the meadow since 1947 when he left the army. He was in the battle of Monte Casino and out of a regiment of1000 soldiers he was 1 of 7 that survived.

Here seen on the 30th Nov 2002 on the day that the cattle have to be removed for the winter from the meadow.
