June and Robin Small's company, Charlton Orchards, Taunton, Somerset - seen here at their Taunton Farmers Market Stall. Their company was chewed up and spat out by the superstores, but they didn't give up. They found a way of surviving, by selling direct to local people. They've become evangelists for community orchards and local marketing. They're growing about 25 varieties of English apple: one of the last diverse commercial orchards left in Britain.
